書籍:わかりそうでわからない! 英語の「ひとこと」表現990

この本も図書館で借りました。本書は、英語の会話でよく使われながら「日本人にはわかりそうでわからない」フレーズや表現を集めたものです。“After you.”「お先にどうぞ」のように、その意味がわかれば「なるほどね」と思えるものから“He is a wet blanket.”「彼は座を白けさせる奴だ」のような面白い表現まで詰まった一冊です。中学生レベルの英単語2〜4語からなるフレーズで、よく使われるけど日本人には意味がわかりにくい表現を集めています。途中のクイズ形式はいらない。PART1から6までの中で重複して出てくる表現、例文があるので本当に全部で990あるかどうか疑わしいです。
直訳となぜそのような意味になるのか解説されているので、演習問題はやった方がいいと思います。
